Homeschool Classes Description

Hands-on Enrichment: Mondays 9:15-10:45 AM or Tuesdays 12:30-2 PM
This class is a fun and educational class, where students make hands-on projects to take home while learning about science, art and cultures. This Fall 2025, we will cover the following topics:
1) The Everglades: students will learn about this unique and fragile ecosystem. We will study its wildlife, mangrove ecosystems, sawgrass marshes and endangered species.

2) Accidental Inventions: From the Slinky to chocolate chip cookies, so many interesting inventions were a result of either an accident or a mistake! This session will cover some of these interesting inventions, and teach kids that mistakes are great opportunities to learn and grow!

3) Dinosaurs: Students will be transported in time to millions of years ago, when dinosaurs were the dominant land animals on Earth. We will learn about different types of dinosaurs that lived in each Period of the Mesozoic Era. We will also understand the evolution of the only currently living type of dinosaurs: the birds.

 

Creative Stitches: Mondays 11-12:30 or Tuesdays 10:30-noon
This class applies fine motor skills and mathematical concepts as students learn how to manipulate a sewing machine, hand-sew, and design to make creative fabric projects. This class is geared towards boys and girls alike. 

Science: Mondays 1-2 PM or Tuesdays 9:15-10:15 AM
Classes will follow the Scholastic curriculum. Kids will learn biological, physical and chemical sciences according to their grade level.

Reading & Writing: Wednesdays 9:15-10:15 AM

Students will learn and practice their communication skills through lessons on reading, writing and vocabulary at their appropriate grade level.

Florida Education Standards covered: ELA.F, ELA.R, ELA.C, ELA.V

 

Japanese Culture & Language: Wednesdays 10:30-noon

Students will learn Japanese language and culture through story telling and hands-on activities.

 

Visual Art: Wednesdays 12:30-2 PM

Students will learn to recognize and utilize different mediums and techniques to express themselves through visual art. Each month students will focus on a different art medium: pencil drawing, water color, acrylic painting, print making, mixed media, 3D art.
